cincinnati chili con carne

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 onions finely chopped, divided
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1 tbl olive oil
  • 3 tbl chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp allspice
  • 1/8 tsp cloves
  • 1/8 tsp hot pepper flakes
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 8 oz can tomato sauce
  • 1 can red beans rinsed and drained
  • 1 tbl cider vinegar
  • salt & pepper
  • spaghetti
  • grated cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. saute ground beef, onions and garlic until cooked through, 7 minutes
  2. add chili powder, cumin, cinnamon, allspice, cloves, hot pepper flakes, bay leaf, beef broth, tomato sauce, red beans, vinegar, salt & pepper
  3. cook for 30 minutes and serve over spaghetti topped with onions and cheddar cheese
