penne with asparagus in a lemon parmesan cream sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 lb penne
  • 1 bunch asparagus
  • salt & pepper
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/8 tsp grated nutmeg
  • zest of 1 lemon
  • ¾ cup parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. boil salted water and cook penne
  2. melt 1 stick butter in a pan large enough to hold the pasta
  3. add the cream and cook until warm
  4. 3 minutes before the pasta is done add the asparagus to the water
  5. add nutmeg, lemon zest and salt & pepper to the sauce
  6. drain the pasta and the asparagus
  7. add the pasta, asparagus and cheese to the pan and mix together until coated
  8. serve with extra cheese
