heat a cast iron skillet over high heat

form meat into 4 loosely packed balls of meat

salt & pepper the burgers

place the meat in the hot skillet and smash flat with a spatula

cook 2-3 minutes until blood bleeds through the top of the burgers

flip the burgers and top with cheese

cook 1-2 minutes more until cooked through and the cheese is melted

place on a bun and serve with pickle slices
